ENGLAND will have 17 players competing in the Yonex European Championships at the M.E.N. Arena in Manchester from April 14-18. This compares to seven from Scotland, 11 from Wales and six from Ireland. The Championships offers the chance to see most of the players who will be competing in the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi in October, the World Championships in Paris in August and in London in August 2011, and in contention for the London 2012 Olympic Games. Anthony Clark of England will be the only defending champion in the Home Nations entries, having been given a wild card to defend the title he won with Donna Kellogg two years ago. He will now defend it with new partner Heather Olver. Clark and Nathan Robertson will start as big hopes in the men's doubles, not just because of their Singapore Open triumph last year but because back in 2004 they won the silver medal behind Jens Eriksen and Martin Lundgaard. The Danes have now retired but Clark and Robertson will still have to contend with new Yonex All England champions Lars Paaske and Jonas Rasmussen. Paaske and Rasmussen, the 2003 world champions, were bronze medallists back in 2004 alongside Poland's Robert Mateusiak and Michal Logosz. ENGLAND SCOTLAND WALES IRELAND
